Lily-Rose Depp played Jocelyn - a pop star looking for success - on HBO's 'The Idol'. The plot also featured the participation of R&B singer, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye.
'The Idol' generated immense controversy due to its graphic content, particularly sexual and aggressive, which led to the cancellation of the series at the end of the first season.
More than a year after its debut, Lily-Rose Deep, daughter of Johny Deep, spoke openly about her participation in the plot, but also about its failure.
The interview was given to Vanity Fair magazine. By way of reflection, the actress and model stated with conviction: "You do something and hope that people like it, and hope that it resonates with people. But we always knew that some people wouldn't like it or that it would be too much for others. But I maintain: we made a choice and we opted for it".
"I love it when people come up to me and say they love the show. It doesn't hurt that it's not for everyone. In fact, I think it's cute. I'm really close with Sam and Ashley [the show's producers]. They are like family to me.
It is worth remembering that, shown in a world premiere, the first two episodes scandalized the audience at the Cannes Festival because of the nudity and explicit language in the series.
