Two Men Charged in Latvia for Selling Counterfeit Detergent

Two men have been charged in Latvia with crimes of forgery, distribution and illegal use of trademarks. They are suspected of counterfeiting Ariel brand detergents and distributing them in large quantities throughout Europe through an international organized crime agreement.

Latvian police have already initiated both criminal proceedings, says the Associated Press (AP). The case dates back to the year 2023.

At the time, authorities, with the help of tax and customs officials, discovered a large-scale operation in a house in Riga. The product was packaged and stored in this house.

Later, they came across a warehouse with 22 tons of fake product - liquid and powder detergent - labeled Ariel, along with other fake materials.

Last Thursday, the Latvian police completed the investigation into the case.
