The three main suspects in the murder of an Israeli-Moldovan rabbi in the United Arab Emirates have been arrested in Turkey, Turkish security sources told AFP today.
"The killers of Rabbi Tzvi Kogan [...] were arrested during a covert operation carried out by the National Intelligence Organization and the Turkish police," Turkish security sources said, adding that the three men were arrested in a taxi.
The suspects were immediately extradited to the United Arab Emirates, the sources said.
The United Arab Emirates announced on Monday the arrest of three Uzbeks, without specifying the location or circumstances.
The Emirati authorities thanked Turkey today for its cooperation in the arrest, without providing further details.
The murder of the Moldovan-Israeli rabbi, the circumstances of which have not been disclosed by the authorities, has been described by the Israeli government as a "heinous act of anti-Semitic terrorism."
The body of Tzvi Kogan, 28, was found dead on Sunday in the Emirates, where he lived with his wife, three days after he disappeared.
