Presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane says he did not attend the meeting with the President of the Republic because he did not receive any correspondence about the points he had raised as an agenda for the dialogue.
Venâncio Mondlane was the only one absent from the meeting called by Filipe Nyusi, as President of the Republic, and was also the reason for the postponement. Mondlane explained the reasons for his absence on social media.
“I have not received any response from the Presidency of the Republic, I have not received any response from the Government of Mozambique, I have not received any response from the President of the Republic, I have not received any response from the Assembly of the Republic, I have not received any response from the Constitutional Council, I have not received any response from the Public Prosecutor's Office. These are the institutions to which we sent a letter so that they would be aware of our availability for dialogue,” he explained.
The candidate supported by the PODEMOS party also explains that he proposed an agenda for discussion, since he had noticed that there was no specific agenda. For Venâncio, the lack of response has a meaning. “The President of the Republic has no genuine desire to hold a serious debate and dialogue to resolve the post-electoral crisis that Mozambique is experiencing.”
Also on Tuesday, Mondlane announced new measures for electoral protests
