Woman Dies in Front of Husband After Being Struck by Lightning

A 32-year-old woman died after being struck by lightning. Gabriela Daiana Basallo was hiking with her husband when the incident occurred. The incident was reported last Tuesday (12), in the Red Valley, in the Cusco region, in Peru.

Samuel Andres Sierra, the victim's husband, was seriously injured. Rescuers found Gabriela's body covered in burns.

The victim's sister mourned Gabriela's death on social media. "How can we understand this? How will life go on like this? Why them? "Why now?", she said. "I love you, my little sister... I needed to tell you more often how much I love you. It only helps me to know that the last time I saw you you were so happy," she wrote in another post.

According to the Mirro portal, the couple was descending a mountain after a hike when the lightning struck Gabriela. Samuel was taken to the hospital where he is receiving medical treatment. There are currently no details about the health condition of the victim's husband.

According to tour guide Efrain Zamora Galindo, the place where the couple were staying is known for having unpredictable weather, with frequent snowfall and rain. The Public Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating the accident. Gabriela leaves behind a 10-year-old son.
