Man Dies After Falling Ill During Half-Marathon In São Paulo

 



A 52-year-old man died after suffering a sudden illness during a half-marathon in São Paulo last Sunday (11). Marcelo Mariano da Silva began to feel ill in the morning, near the end of the race.


According to reports, Marcelo fainted and also bled from the mouth. He was then taken to the local Emergency Care Unit (UPA), but didn't survive.


According to the Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure (Seme), the race was a private event, so it was the responsibility of the organization to provide aid to the participants.


In a note sent to the Metrópoles portal, TTK Marketing Esportivo, which was responsible for the event, said that the medical team was called as soon as they received the call and it took approximately four minutes for the ambulance to reach Marcelo.
