Woman Mistakenly Reported Dead in Mallorca Ended Up Dying



The woman who woke up in a funeral home in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, after being pronounced dead at the Joan March Hospital in Bunyola, ended up dying in the early hours of Sunday, reports 20 minutes.


A doctor certified his death on Friday. However, at the funeral home, when the staff were beginning to prepare her body for the funeral, they noticed that she was moving her fingers.


They immediately raised an alert, and a team of paramedics transported the patient back to the hospital where it was confirmed that she still had vital signs. The woman was admitted to the palliative care unit at Joan March Hospital again, in a “very weak” condition. He ended up passing away this Sunday.


Despite the controversy, the hospital clarified that the doctor who declared the death complied with all protocols and that this was a "unique case in the hospital's 80-year history."


The health unit announced that, despite this, it would reinforce protocols for issuing death certificates and that new medical evidence would be requested.
