Arsenal have given up, once and for all, on acquiring Alexander Isak, a player who was rumored to be their favorite target to lead the front line for Mikel Arteta's squad next season.
According to reports in the British newspaper the Daily Mail on Friday, this decision was based on the fact that Newcastle had made it known that they would only give up the Swedish international if the Gunners were willing to make him the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
That status currently belongs to Moisés Caicedo, who left Brighton for Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for a fee of around 115 million pounds (137.3 million euros), which the Londoners can't afford.
Added to this is the fact that the 25-year-old currently earns something like 120,000 pounds (143,200 euros) a week at St. James' Park, a figure that would have to be increased in the event of a possible 'jump'.
