Man With Knife Tried to Enter Belgian Prime Minister's Residence



Belgian military police today arrested a man armed with a knife who tried to break into the office of Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo in Brussels, the authorities announced.



According to the same sources, De Croo, prime minister in office since the legislative elections of June 9, was absent from his office.


The Belgian authorities have opened an investigation into the incident, which did not result in any casualties.


This morning, a man approached the Prime Minister's official residence and threatened the military personnel present at the scene, who neutralized the suspect until the police arrived, according to information provided by the authorities.


Rue de la Loi, where the Prime Minister's official residence is located at number 16, is one of the busiest streets in the Belgian capital and is home to several official buildings of the country and the European Union (EU).
