John Lithgow's name was recently linked to the role of Dumbledore in the 'Harry Potter' series that HBO is producing for the Max streaming service and, it seems, the actor has been chosen to play the character.
The confirmation came from John Lithgow himself in an interview with the website ScreenRant, where the actor “said yes” to the role of Dumbledore.
“Well, it was a total surprise to me,” Lithgow confirmed, noting that ‘it wasn't an easy decision’ since it will define him ‘in the last chapter’ of his life.
“But I'm very excited. Some wonderful people are paying attention to 'Harry Potter' again. That's why it's been such a difficult decision. I'll be about 87 at the closing party, but I said yes,” explained the American actor.
It's worth remembering that the 'Harry Potter' series is a new adaptation of the books written by J.K. Rowling, which have already been the subject of a popular film saga. As for John Lithgow, the actor is known for his roles in 'Conclave', 'Dexter' and 'The Crown', among many other series and films.
