Is Bruno Fernandes Sacrificing His Career at Manchester United?

Phil Bardsley came out this Thursday in defense of Bruno Fernandes, who continues to be the target of criticism from the 'fierce' British press, despite having already scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists in the 44 games played for Manchester United this season.

"Bruno Fernandes can do more, but in any other team he would be winning trophies and he is probably sacrificing his own career trying to help Manchester United get back to where they want to be," the former Scottish international began by saying, in statements reproduced by the Mirror newspaper.

"He's the standout player, week in, week out, just look at the goals and assists. I'd be scared to see where Manchester United would be without him. He doesn't shy away from a challenge and his work rate is second to none," he continued.

"The standards that Roy [Keane] has set as captain mean that I don't like that Bruno sometimes looks frustrated and flails around, but obviously he wants to win trophies with Manchester United. That's his personality," he added.
