Reggae icon Cocoa Tea died on Tuesday, March 11, at the age of 65. The musician suffered cardiac arrest.
Malvia Scott, the singer's wife, confirmed the news to the Jamaican newspaper The Gleaner.
According to his wife, mother of his eight children, Cocoa Tea was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019 and, for the last six months, had been battling pneumonia.
"He was definitely very brave. He was always very positive," Malvia revealed, adding that the singer spent the last three weeks in the hospital.
Cocoa Tea was born in Jamaica on September 3, 1959, and is known for songs such as 'Rikers Island', 'Sweet Sweet Cocoa Tea', 'Rocking Dolly', 'Young Lover', among others.
