Venous Thrombosis Puts Damian Lillard's Career on Hold

The Milwaukee Bucks announced in a statement issued via their official platforms in the early hours of Tuesday that Damian Lillard has been diagnosed with a “venous thrombosis in his right calf”.

“Damian's health is our number 1 priority. We will continue to support him as he proceeds through this weekly process of strict criteria to ensure that it is safe for him to return to play. The doctors have indicated that this situation is very unlikely to happen again,” explained Jon Horst.

“We're grateful that this was identified and medicated quickly, which helps with the recovery,” added the head of the NBA's current fifth-placed Eastern Conference team, with 40 wins from 71 games.

Last February, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs was diagnosed with a similar medical condition and was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the season.
