At least five people died when a three-storey building collapsed on Saturday in Lagos state, southern Nigeria, Europa Press reported today.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) added one more death to the four reported on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, 13 people have been rescued from the rubble.
According to the Nigerian newspaper Punch, LASEMA has attributed the incident to unapproved structural modifications.
"It was an old building converted into a restaurant. Additional work was carried out before the structure finally collapsed," said the agency's director, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
