Four Dead After Plane Collides with Power Lines in Illinois

Four people died on Saturday morning after their small plane crashed into power lines in Trilla, Illinois.

The accident occurred at 10:15 a.m. local time, with the single-engine Cessna 180 crashing into a field, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The identities of the two men and two women who were on board have not yet been released as authorities try to contact their families, according to CBS News.

The same media outlet said that some wreckage from the aircraft was scattered across the road, where traffic remained closed this Sunday, at the time this report was published.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker assured that his "administration is monitoring the situation" on social media (Twitter).

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will be in charge of the investigation. The latter body indicated that a preliminary report will be released in 30 days.
