Uber has been formally sued by the US Federal Trade Commission, with the company accused of charging customers for the Uber One subscription without their consent.
According to TechCrunch, the lawsuit claims that Uber has failed to deliver on the promised savings of this subscription, noting that it has made it difficult to cancel the service. “Americans are tired of signing up for subscriptions they don't want and that seem impossible to cancel,” says the head of the regulatory body, Andrew Ferguson.
For its part, Uber claims that the accusations are based on “unverified allegations” and accuses the Federal Trade Commission of rushing the investigation process.
