Tyla’s “WWP EP” Casts a Spell

When Tyla first dropped “WWP,” we didn’t put out any review until we are sure to fully digests its 4-track and understand the intricacies and nuances. We have now digested this project and I dare say it’s magical.

Releasing a project that feels diverse despite having only a small number of featured tracks is no small feat. Tyla’s WWP EP draws elements from Afrobeat, R&B, Amapiano, and soulful music. These combinations of sounds are individually sampled and refined in each of the four tracks that make up the project, resulting in a body of work that makes a compelling case for Tyla’s ability to craft music that can be enjoyed by virtually anyone.

The tracks on “WWP” are a bit different from Tyla’s previous and this shift in sound has attracted the attention of many listeners to the EP.

“WWP” prepares us for Tyla’s upcoming full length project that is expected to hit shelves soon. Except for Dynamite which featured Nigeria’s WizKid, tracks on this project were solely composed by Tyla, leading to the creation of a perfect works of art where each track was explosive and spanned the gambit of her creative abilities.
