7-Month-Old Baby Dies After Being Attacked by Family Dog in UK



A seven-month-old baby died after being attacked by the family's pet dog at their home in the West Midlands, England. The dog, which was not classified as a dangerous breed, was put down.


According to West Midlands Police, quoted by Sky News, the attack took place on Sunday afternoon and the girl died shortly afterwards from serious head injuries.


"A baby girl tragically died after being bitten by a pet dog at a house in Coventry," the authority explained in a statement, adding that the alert was raised at 3pm and emergency services arrived at the scene "within minutes".


According to the police, "a seven-month-old girl had suffered serious head injuries after being bitten by the family dog inside the house" and "was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment".


The child "died a short time later" and the pet dog "was removed from the house and put down".


The incident is being investigated by the authority.
