Classified as the "queen of rap", Minaj performs on Thursday, a day for which the organization has made daily tickets available due to high demand, as tickets are usually only sold for the three days of the festival.
The rapper, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago but has lived in the United States since the age of 5, joins names such as Remo, Asake, Ninho, J Hus, Dadju&Tayc, Musa Keys, Lisandro Cuxi, Ch'cco, Yumbs and Tman Xpress.
Nicki Minaj is the author of titles such as "Pink Friday" and "The Pinkprint", and has been cast in several films and on the jury of the "American Idol" contest.
The line-up for this year's festival also includes Omah Lay, Flavour, Tyla and The Compozers, among others.
Last year, the event brought together more than 40,000 people who attended concerts by Burna Boy, Little Simz, Wizkid, 50 Cent, Booba and Davido in Portimão, in the district of Faro, in a line-up that brought together more than 50 artists.
In its first edition in 2019, Afro Nation welcomed more than 25,000 people, mainly from the UK. In 2020 and 2021, the festival did not take place because of restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
