A 26-year-old woman drowned after being swept down a waterfall and remaining underwater for several minutes in Glacier National Park in Montana, United States.
According to the authorities, the incident happened on Sunday. The woman was dragged down the waterfall and fell more than 10.6 meters.
"According to witnesses, the woman was dragged down the falls and was trapped underwater for several minutes," the park said in a statement quoted by the international press.
The woman was pulled from the water and given resuscitation maneuvers until the emergency services arrived. A helicopter was even activated to the scene, but death was eventually declared.
The body will now be autopsied and the death is being investigated.
