There's an Asian Movie That's Bringing TikTokers to Tears

A Thai movie is so successful that it has gone viral on the very small screen - of cell phones.

According to the BBC, it's 'How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies', which opened in Asian cinemas in April and is causing many TikTok users to leave advice for those who are going to watch it.

According to critic James Marsh, quoted by the BBC, this is an "absolutely sensational" movie.

The film is partly a comedy, but also a drama, which tells the story of a dysfunctional family that tries to take advantage of a woman's illness to gain her fortune. In addition to other characters, the main characters are the grandmother and the grandson.

The young man approaches his grandmother with a view to the inheritance she will leave him, but begins to question her motives as he gets closer to her. The matriarch is aware of her grandson's intentions, but she doesn't stop loving him.

Without further spoilers, it was this film that brought people to tears - with trips to the movies being recorded and shared.

"I'm now going to see my grandmother. An emotional film that was even stronger because it reminded me of my relationship with my grandmother", wrote one user. "I cried so much that my makeup was gone by the end of the film," said another.

The main cinema in Malaysia, where the film has also been very successful, described the film as a work for people "who need a good cry". Cinemas in the Philippines even distributed tissue paper at the doors of the theaters.
