Portuguese Woman Killed in Plane Crash Was Daniel Podence's Relative

The Portuguese international guarantees that Gracinda Marina Castelo da Silva's children "will never lack for anything".

Gracinda Marina Castelo da Silva, the Portuguese citizen who died after a plane crashed in the Brazilian state of São Paulo last week, was a relative of Portuguese international Daniel Podence.

The Wolverhampton player himself took to social media this Monday to mourn the tragedy, which claimed the lives of 61 other people: "You were a person with a huge and pure heart, a surreal energy and positivity that made the people around you so much happier."

"If you were sometimes excessive, it wasn't out of spite but because you didn't know how to live any other way. If it was to discuss topics? You always did it with all possible resources and understanding all parties. Was it to dance? Well, with the Brazilian blood you have, nobody would even stand next to you," he wrote.

"If it was to talk in the family group? Come on, those 30 lines of text. If it was to go with Maridão on a motorbike trip of endless kilometers? There you go all happy. And always with your records for the people you loved the most. If I wanted to do another doctorate or master's degree? Always ready to learn and grow," she continued.

"Always with the intention of succeeding, but with the humility that the journey was the most important thing. You and Nélvio were an example of love, complicity, adventure and companionship. Where one went, the other followed. But also with the confidence of travelling halfway around the world without each other and everything being fine," he added.

Finally, the Sporting-trained striker left a guarantee for the couple's "three marvellous children": "Your children will never lack for anything, you can be sure of that. The family that you cared so much for will take what they've learnt from you and continue on their way. I ask you, Marina, to look after them and the family that loves you so much".
