The English Football Association (FA) has already informed Lee Carsley that he will not become head coach of the national team, despite the fact that he has held the post on an interim basis since Gareth Southgate's resignation last June.
The news was reported on Tuesday by the British newspaper The Sun, which adds that the management of the organization is now committed to 'tying down' Pep Guardiola, a coach whose contract with Manchester City expires at the end of this season and who, it seems, has no intention of renewing it.
The aim, it can be read, is to have the new helmsman in place in time for the start of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, i.e. by March 2025, so the process will have to gain traction soon.
This means that Lee Carsley should guide the Three Lions in the last two matches of the year, against Greece and the Republic of Ireland, on November 14 and 17, in the final rounds of the Nations League group stage.
