“Lack of Respect for Maradona and Pelé”? Guardiola Elects Best Ever

Pep Guardiola gave an extensive interview this Sunday to the program 'Che tempo che fa', broadcast by Italian television station Sky Sport, in which he once again made his admiration for Lionel Messi clear.

Asked who, in his opinion, is the best player in the history of world soccer, the Manchester City manager had no hesitation in naming Lionel Messi (who currently plays for Inter Miami), the forward with whom he had some of the best moments of his career at Barcelona.

“He's the best ever. Maybe it's disrespectful to Maradona and Pelé, but what a privilege it was to be able to admire him in training... He and the whole Barcelona team were the 'Great Beauty'”, said the Catalan.

Pep Guardiola also left a special word for Dutch 'legend' Johan Cruijff: “I can't imagine what my soccer career would have been like without Cruijff. It was he who made me fall in love with soccer”.
