Panathinaikos are preparing to help the family of George Baldock, the player found dead in the swimming pool of his home in Glyfada, south of Athens, at the age of 31, according to Monday's edition of the British newspaper Daily Mail.
Currently on the table is the possibility of the historic Greek club honoring the three-season contract signed with the defender last summer, when they acquired him from Sheffield United, by depositing his salary in the account of his widow, who is left alone to look after their one-year-old son.
The same publication adds that the management of the club based in the Hellenic capital is also seriously considering the possibility of organizing a charity match in his memory in 2025.
So far, the local authorities have found no evidence of criminal activity and are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine exactly what led to this tragic outcome.
