Ilia Topuria took to social media this Sunday to respond to Conor McGregor, who the day before had questioned his nationality, saying: “He's not Spanish, he's Georgian. Let's be honest. Even I'm more Spanish”.
“We all know about his addiction to whisky and cocaine. There's absolutely nothing Spanish about him,” he began, during a live broadcast on Instagram, in which he answered some questions from his followers, before assuring that he had no doubt that he would beat the Irishman in a fight.
“MMA has evolved, and his footwork was really good, but in ground fighting he was always very bad. I would beat him at his best and at any time. No matter where it was. It's not competition. Let him keep drinking whisky,” he added.
The current UFC featherweight world champion also took the opportunity to issue a challenge to 'Notorious': “At my next training camp, I'll invite you to a sparring session”.
