Police Save Newborn Baby Who Choked On Milk In Spain

The incident happened “a few days ago”, when a couple called the emergency services to report that their baby, just a month and a half old, had choked.

A local police officer from Getafe, in the Spanish community of Madrid, managed to save the life of a newborn baby who was not breathing after choking while breastfeeding.

According to a statement from the municipality, the incident happened “a few days ago”, when a couple called the emergency services to report that their baby, just a month and a half old, had choked. Following the alert, two local police officers rushed to the scene.

The baby was not breathing and had a rapid pulse. An officer then asked for consent to perform first aid techniques and, after several attempts, “the baby finally expelled the breast milk he had just swallowed and choked on, managing to recover his breathing”.

The baby was later taken to hospital to be assessed, but is doing well.

In the statement, the Mayor of Getafe, Sara Hernández, and the Councillor for Security, Jorge Rodríguez, made a point of “publicly congratulating this officer for his courage and speed in providing first aid in such a complicated situation and with such a positive outcome for the baby and his family”.
