Mike Amesbury assured that he continues to "cooperate with the police", noting that, as this is "an ongoing case", he cannot "make any further comments".
Mike Amesbury MP, who was suspended from the UK Labor Party after attacking a member of the public on a street in Frodsham, Cheshire, last month, has been formally charged with assault.
"I was summoned to court today to answer to a charge of common assault following an incident that occurred in Frodsham last month, which was deeply regrettable," the deputy wrote on the social network X (Twitter) this Thursday afternoon- fair.
Amesbury also assured that he continues to "cooperate with the police", noting that, as this is "an ongoing case", he cannot "comment further".
It will be recalled that the now independent MP for Runcorn and Helsby was filmed attacking a member of the public in the early hours of October 26th.

The deputy assured that he was "threatened on the street after a night out with friends" and said that he had contacted the Cheshire authorities on his own initiative to report what happened.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the images released by the British press as "shocking", which led to Amesbury's suspension.
In July last year, a 56-year-old man was convicted of stalking the deputy in his constituency office.
