Ukrainian Forces Claim to Have Attacked Russia With 1st US Missile

The attack comes a thousand days into the conflict and days after Ukraine was authorized by Joe Biden to attack the enemy with US weapons.

On Tuesday, Ukraine used the first US missile to attack Russian territory, Ukrainian military authorities confirmed to RBC Ukraine.

The attack took place some 77 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, at an ammunition depot in Karachev, in Russia's Bryansk region.

This is the first time that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have attacked Russian territory with ATACMS ballistic missiles, and according to a Defense Forces source, the target was successfully hit.

This attack comes after Joe Biden authorized Zelensky's forces to use ATACMS missiles over the weekend.

Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) are long-range missiles that allow precision strikes at a distance of more than 300 km from targets. 

The attack also comes moments after it became known that Putin had signed a decree authorizing the extended use of nuclear weapons in the event of an attack.
