Rapper and businessman Jay-Z has been officially accused of raping a 13-year-old girl. The case occurred in 2000 and allegedly involved P. Diddy. Beyoncé's husband, who is 55, was the target of a lawsuit that came to light this Sunday (8), in a report by NBC News.
Shawn Carter, Jay's real name, was accused by an anonymous woman, identified only as Jane Dow. She claimed that the assault by Jay-Z and Diddy happened at a party after the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) in New York, when she was 13 years old.
The civil lawsuit was originally filed in October of this year in the Southern District of New York, United States, listing Diddy as a defendant. The lawsuit was reopened on Sunday to include Jay-Z.
According to NBC, the lawsuit says that the accuser was approached by a driver who worked for Diddy at the door of the VMAs, at Radio City Music Hall. The man reportedly said she “fit what Diddy was looking for” and invited her to a party after the event.

According to the lawsuit, the woman allegedly signed a confidentiality agreement upon arriving at the party — and was not given a copy of the document. After drinking a drink that left her “dizzy, light-headed and feeling like she needed to lie down,” she went to a room to rest. Shortly thereafter, Diddy and Jay-Z allegedly entered the venue and raped her.
Attorney Tony Buzbee, who filed the lawsuit, has not commented publicly on the case. He has filed several lawsuits in recent months accusing Diddy of assault and rape — and this is the first in which another famous defendant is named.
Diddy has denied all the allegations against him. In September, federal prosecutors criminally charged the rapper with racketeering, sex trafficking and other crimes — he remains in jail after being denied bail for the third time in November.
