Lula Da Silva Undergoes Emergency Surgery for Head Hemorrhage



The Brazilian head of state suffered a fall in October, which is believed to have caused internal bleeding in his head.


Lula da Silva underwent emergency surgery for internal bleeding after suffering a severe headache. The incident is believed to be related to a fall the Brazilian president suffered on October 19, according to G1.


According to this publication, Lula underwent surgery in the early hours of Tuesday to drain a hematoma.


"He is hospitalized in the ICU [intensive care unit] and is doing well," reads the medical report shared on the head of state's Instagram account.


The same report states that Lula suffered a "home accident on 10/19." Following this, and after suffering severe headaches, he underwent an MRI "which showed intracranial hemorrhage."


"The surgery went smoothly [...] the president is doing well, under monitoring in an ICU bed," the hospital reported.




On October 19, Lula da Silva fell in one of the bathrooms of the official presidential residence and hit the back of his head. At the time, he received five stitches and underwent imaging tests, which were repeated.


The medical team accompanying the president is expected to hold a press conference today to provide an update on Lula's health status.
