Woman Who Was Kidnapped After Birth Dies at 30 From Cancer

Abbie Humphries, who became famous as a newborn when she was kidnapped from the hospital by a nurse, has died aged 30.

The woman's story, which shocked an entire nation, now comes to an end, after a long battle against brain cancer.

It all happened in July 1994 when, with just three hours to live, Abbie was kidnapped from the Queen's Medical Center in Nottingham, United Kingdom. At the time, her parents turned to TV to find their daughter - who was only returned to them 16 days later.

After that moment, which marked their first days, the family decided to move to New Zealand, in search of a calmer life, away from other people's eyes. However, his life was marked by tragedy.

The woman's mother died in 2020, a victim of breast cancer. Days later, Abbie, who was suffering from severe headaches, thought they were related to the pain of losing her mother. He would eventually discover that he had advanced brain cancer.

The woman died this Sunday, "after a long battle", but left surrounded by those she loved most, says her family.
