Drake is preparing for trial against Universal Music Group after they released Kendrick Lamar's ‘Not Like Us’ - which won the Grammy for Song of the Year and is one of the highlights of the dispute between the rappers.
People says it had access to court documents on Wednesday, April 9, and that Drake's legal defense claims that “they have not yet discussed any kind of settlement”.
The case is due to go before a jury and is expected to last three weeks in New York.
It should be remembered that ‘Not Like Us’ was released in May 2024 - in the face of a dispute between the two artists (a beef that has already resulted in several songs being released). In the single, Kendrick Lamar refers to Drake as an “open pedophile” who should be “watched”.
The song was played at the halftime show of the 2025 Super Bowl in February. At the time, although the word “pedophile” was omitted from the performance, Kendrick Lamar did not fail to ‘tease’ by looking at the camera and singing: “Drake, I hear you like them young.”
